The Sacrament of Penance (also commonly called the Sacrament of Reconciliation or Confession) is one of the seven sacraments of the Catholic Church (known in Eastern Christianity as sacred mysteries), in which the faithful are absolved from sins committed after baptism and reconciled with the Christian community. During reconciliation, mortal sins must be confessed and venial sins may be confessed for devotional reasons. According to the dogma and unchanging practice of the church, only those ordained as priests may grant absolution.

First Reconciliation

To prepare for First Reconciliation, youth must have successfully completed the first grade of the Parish School of Religion at OLG, or another parish, or attend a parochial school or be home schooled, and be enrolled in PSR or a parochial school for second grade.  Parents are the primary educators of their children in matters of faith, they are required to attend an informational meeting to hear how the parish will assist them in their role of preparing their child.

Each child as well as at least one parent, will attend the Reconciliation Morning Retreat in January, immediately followed by the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the 2nd graders, their parents and siblings.
